Dishwasher no longer running like new? Sometimes running a simple rinsing aid can do the trick to get your dishes cleaner after they are run through the dishwasher. However, if your dishes have more than just a few water spots adorning them after a run through the dishwasher, you should probably follow through with some of these simple cleaning tips from familyhandyman.com before you pick up the phone and call for a costly repairman visit.
First, remove the spray arm by simply snapping it off or unscrewing the cap off of the top, then clean out the holes with soap and water. If you have calcium deposits built up, try a little baking soda and vinegar to bubble the deposits out of the holes. If that doesn’t work, scraping it out with a toothpick should do the trick.
While the spray arm is off, take a vacuum hose and clean out anything stuck in the filter screen underneath. You may even be lucky enough to have a removable filter, in that case, remove it and rinse debris down the sink.
Hopefully these tips will help keep your dishwasher running like new!
Happy Halloween, stay safe!
